Texas Almond Sheet Cake

When you combine family and a potluck dinner you know you are bound to have a good time!  I recently was lucky enough to attend a family reunion and this cake was served.  I had to ask my cousin for the recipe because I absolutely loved the cake!  I hope you enjoy it too!

Cake

Boil:

1 Cup butter or margarine and 1 Cup butter

Add

2 cups flour

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

8 oz. sour cream

1 tsp. almond flavor

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

Grease a jelly roll cake pan and put batter in it.   Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 22 minutes.

 

Frosting

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

1/4 cup milk

4 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Heat butter and milk.  Add other ingredients and spread over cake.  Sprinkle with toasted almonds.  To toast almonds place in oven for few moments turning periodically.
