The Hodge Podge Quilt Project – Update #2

Well I’m happy to say that my least favorite part of this project is almost wrapped up! To start from the beginning hit this post up first! The photo above shows ALL the scrap fabric cut except for some fat quarters I plan to specifically cut for certain quilt patterns.

I chose squares to have it be easier to create a quilt quickly. We cut them into 2.5, 4.5, 5, 9 and 10 inch squares. In the photos above you will also see some precuts as jelly rolls and 5 inch charm packs. I plan to use these for quilts as well because I’ve had them for so long. I mainly like to sew from fat quarters and yardage now.

When I mention we cut, I need to take a moment to celebrate the help of my husband. I finally asked him to help me with the bigger scraps of fabric, like what was left from the backings and borders. My hand was hurting as it’s not 100% anyway and he is somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to cutting and measuring. He worked in construction forever, cutting was a daily thing. It’s not that he enjoyed it but he did help me and I appreciate it. It took about a month to cut all the fabric I had from 7 years of quilting. The photo above and below are the result.

Today I started on a fat quarter quilt called Fat Quarter Mixer by Material Girl Quilts. I found it online and it is free and simple. We will see how it goes! I’m so happy to be back to actually sewing and putting the quilts together. It’s my favorite part of the quilt process! I’ve missed my Juki Sewing Machine! 🙂 ‘

I’ll close out now and hope you all have a wonderful Super Bowl Sunday! Go Chiefs!

Thanks for stopping by!

Julie
