Farm Post Friday 03/25/2016 – The Path Is Clear

Farm Post Fridays

The third week of March there was a beautiful spring-like day and it was time for the center pivot irrigation to be started for the first time in months.  It sat quiet during the winter, but just as the trees were waking up and budding out, it was time for this piece of equipment to go to work!

I had some time and  hopped in with my farmer  when he headed to the field!  I knew it would be a good blog post for our Farm Post Fridays segment!

My father in law was at the irrigation motor to start the water flowing by turning on the motor. My husband had opened the drain plug at the end of the center pivot so the water could come out.

On this particular piece of ground we have high iron content in the water.  So when the water first came out it was not clear.  It was reddish-brown as you can tell from the photo.

Life on the farm is somewhat like this photo.

At times it can be clouded by the exterior conditions due to surrounding things.  Farming is affected by many things in this world, some right in our own back yard, and some that are countries away.

Some could include the amount of rainfall we receive, how much fertilizer is used, the exports to another country, oil prices, and much more.  Although the items mentioned can affect a small Kansas farmer’s livelihood, it is always clear in that farmers mind what their soul purpose of their life is.

It’s clear like the water that will eventually come from this center pivot.  That living a life on the farm and raising crops to help feed the world is where they are to be.  So although some moments they can’t see the outcome due to darkness, they still clearly know their path.

Water after running for a short period of time is clear.

Grace is  a gift,
