Corn Planting 2017- All To Help!

The farmer called up one evening last week and said “have PV bring the corn seed down to the field, I’m ready to refill.”  I was just about ready to start supper, so glad he called before I was in the middle of that!  We loaded up in the mule and headed that way.  She was stoked to get to drive the mule of course!

She attempted to lift the 50 plus pound bag off the back but just couldn’t do it.

So she took the job of opening the bag for Dad!

The treated corn seed is loaded into the planter.

Once he has most of the  “boxes” filled he spreads out the remainder between the boxes.  That became PV’s job!

When she was a little reckless and spilled some I said “Hey!  That’s money your leaving all over!”  I had to do my part too!

She took me back up the field and I drove the pickup with the fertilizer tank down to him.  He needed to add fertilizer as well.  He is doing that in the next photo.

This is the day he was able to get 61 acres of corn planted.  Since then it has rained so planting has come to a halt.  Until right later this afternoon.  He will be heading to a new field to get some more corn planted!

While it was too wet he had to do some repairs on a tractor.  Headlights are sometimes needed since farmers don’t normally work 9 to 5.

They will probably come in handy tonight!

Milton plans to plant  245 acres of corn this year in all.  We pray that goes well and is a safe planting season for him!

Thanks for stopping by!
